Computer Simulation of Noise Effects of the Neighborhood of Stimulus Threshold for a Mathematical Model of Homeostatic Regulation of Sleep-Wake Cycles

With the same subthreshold amplitude of external current input μA/cm2, the small noise intensity of the modulation function has weak effect on the regulation process, as shown in (a) for , but, for the bigger strength of noise, the function of regulation will lose its effectiveness ((b) for ), even damaging the function of the neurons themselves; the value of the modulation function becomes very bigger and randomly changes within −40~20 (c), all of which means that homeostatic regulation function of sleep-wake cycles is more sensitive to noise.
