Table 2

Dataset variable description.

Variable nameDescription

Stated nameThe state name where the monitor resides.
Parameter codeThe AQS code corresponding to the parameter being measured.
Parameter nameThe name or description assigned in AQS to the parameter measured by the monitor. The parameters are CO, SO2, NO2, ozone, PM2.5, temperature, humidity, and wind.
Date GMTThe calendar date of the average in Greenwich Mean Time.
Time GMTThe time of the day for the average on a 24-hour clock in Greenwich Mean Time.
Units of measureThe units of measured parameter.
UncertaintyThe reporting agency indicates the total measurement uncertainty associated with a reported measurement.
QualifierSample values may have qualifiers that indicate why they are missing or that key is out of ordinary. Types of qualifiers are null data, exceptional events, natural events, and quality assurance.
Date of last changeThe date the last time any numeric values in this record were updated in the AQS data system.

The pollutant data are expressed in units of mass concentrations, i.e., mg/m3 (ppm), except for NO2, which is measured in ppb.
