Complexity, Nonlinear Evolution, Computational Experiments, Agent-Based Modeling and Big Data Modeling for Complex Social Systems

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

Economic and social systems are typical complex giant systems, which are affected by various factors such as behavioral factors, environmental factors, geographical factors, technical factors, etc. Meanwhile, economic and social systems present various nonlinear phenomena such as behavior emergence, nonlinear evolution, and delayed effect, which has become a hot research topic at present.

Economic and social systems are constantly filled with complexity, and the evolution of their structures or characteristics needs to be described and characterized by high-dimensional nonlinear system dynamics, but the research is not so thorough at present. In addition, economic and social systems are actually high-dimensional complex systems, and often present the common nonlinear phenomena in the complex system theory, such as bifurcation, chaos, delay and multistability, which are of vital significance for understanding and controlling complex social systems.

The purpose of this Special Issue is to reveal the laws existing in the complex economy and society systems and to guide the practice based on these laws. In terms of content, this issue focuses on the interaction between people or organizations or between people and organizations in economy and society, and the complexity emergence and nonlinear evolution it may bring, as well as the decision-making mechanism and risk mechanism of people in various complex situations and their impact on the operation of economic and social systems. From the perspective of methods, as far as we know, system dynamics is often used to describe the evolution of society as a system, and big data modeling is used to conduct realistic modeling based on the collected actual data, and computational experiments are used to test the model in the absence of actual data. In addition, the emerging agent-based model, artificial intelligence, block chain and other information technologies have been widely applied in economic and social systems, and their characterization of internal mechanisms is also worthy of attention.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Complex network theory in economic and social systems
  • Critical behavior in complex economic and social networks
  • System dynamics in complex economic and social systems
  • Agent-based model in complex economic and social systems
  • Big data modeling in complex economic and social systems
  • Various emergent behaviors in complex economic and social systems and their complexity modeling
