IncidenceRare. Only a small case series reported in the literature.

Gender ratioUnknown. There may be a higher incidence in females.

Age of predilection12–16 years old.

Risk factorsNo known risk factors.

TreatmentNo treatment for asymptomatic lesions. Symptomatic lesions treated conservatively with protected weight bearing.

PrognosisExcellent. Self-limited process that likely resolves shortly after physeal closure.

Imaging findingsFocal enhancing bone marrow edema on both sides of a central portion of a narrowed or partially closed physis.
