SPT: skin prick test. MCA: minimal cross-sectional area. Vol: nasal volume in cm3 from cm #2 to cm #5.5 (inflammation-susceptible mucosa) in the challenged nostril. All 37 subjects included in the active study group were treated with oral cetirizine 5 mg and topical oxymetazoline after the positive nasal provocation test (NPT) to Cheyletus eruditus. No adrenaline or steroids were needed. The control group (10 subjects) required no medical treatment after the NPT in any case.
