L. rhinocerus cold water extract (50 mg in 5 mL) was fractionated by Sephadex G-50 gel filtration chromatography. The column ( cm) was pre-equilibrated with 0.05 M ammonium acetate buffer. Elution was carried out at a flow rate of 2 mL/min, and fractions of 3.5 mL were collected. The protein content (-♦-♦-) was determined by Bradford protein assay (absorbance at 595 nm), and the carbohydrate content (- ○ - - ○ - -) was determined by phenol-sulphuric method (absorbance at 490 nm).
