Fractionation of an Extract of Pluchea odorata Separates a Property Indicative for the Induction of Cell Plasticity from One That Inhibits a Neoplastic Phenotype

(a) Induction of apoptosis; 1 × 105 HL60 cells/mL were seeded in 24-well plates and incubated with 2 and/or 10 μg/mL of F4.6.3 for 8, 24, and 48 h or (b) 2 and 5 μg/mL of F5.6.3.1–F5.6.3.6 for 24 h. Then, cells were double stained with Hoechst 33258 and propidium iodide and examined under the microscope with UV light connected to a DAPI filter. Nuclei with morphological changes which indicated cell death were counted, and the percentages of dead cells were calculated. Experiments were performed in triplicate.
