Deoxyshikonin regulates VEGF-C mRNA levels and cord formation of HMVEC-dLy via HIF-1α. After transfection with control siRNA or siRNA for HIF-1α, HMVEC-dLy cells were seeded on Matrigel and incubated with or without 0.8 μM deoxyshikonin for 2–6 h, and then cells were subjected to real-time PCR and cord formation assay. (a) HIF-1α mRNA levels. (b) VEGF-C mRNA levels. (c) Relative length of cord formations. Similar results were obtained in three independent experiments; ^∗𝑃<0.05, ^∗∗𝑃<0.01 compared with the control.
