Hypoxia induces the increase in SP cell paracrine actions in vitro and in vivo. ((a) and (b)) Effect of hypoxia and SD alone or a combination of both on SP and non-SP cell paracrine actions in vitro. Cultured kidney SP (a) and non-SP (b) cells were subjected to hypoxia and SD alone or in combination for 6 h, and then the secretion levels of VEGF, IGF-1, HGF, and SDF-1α were quantified by ELISA.
