Emodin and aloe-emodin reduce ERα protein levels. MCF-7 cells were treated with emodin or aloe-emodin in a dose-dependent manner for 24 h (a, c) and via a time course using 25 μM of the drug (b, d). ERα protein levels were detected by western blotting. β-Actin was used as an internal control. The quantification of ERα levels is presented as fold increase or decrease compared to control levels and was evaluated in three independent experiments.
