Curcumin Protects Neuron against Cerebral Ischemia-Induced Inflammation through Improving PPAR-Gamma Function

Curcumin induced PPARγ expression and activation in cerebral ischemia of rats. Rats were injected (i.p.) with curcumin and GW9662 for continuous 3 days. One hour after the last injections, the rats were subjected to MCAO for 2 h and reperfused for 24 h. Rat cortex was isolated for detection of PPARγ-PPRE binding activity and PPARγ expression. (a) EMSA assay of PPARγ-PPRE binding activity. (b) Western blot assay of PPARγ expression. Data were expressed as mean ± SD.
