Achyrocline satureioides (Lam.) D.C. Hydroalcoholic Extract Inhibits Neutrophil Functions Related to Innate Host Defense

Figure 6

Effects of A. satureoides hydroalcoholic extract on TLR-4 expression and DCFH PMA-induced formation. Animals received orally (1) sham (air pouch induced without treatment), (2) vehicle (PBS/ethanol 10%), or (3) A. satureoides (100 mg/kg). (a) After 1 h, LPSs from E. coli 026:B6 (1 mg/2 mL) or PBS were injected directly into the air pouch, and 1 h later TLR-4 expression was measured in blood leukocytes by flow cytometry. (b) Circulating leukocytes were collected and in vitro stimulated by PMA. DCFH formation was measured by flow cytometry. Data are expressed as mean ± S.E.M. of 5-6 animals in each group. Statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test. and versus vehicle; and versus sham.
