Anti-Inflammatory Effects and Mechanisms of Fatsia polycarpa Hayata and Its Constituents

Figure 2

The anti-inflammatory effect of MCE on TPA-induced ear edema of mice. Mice were treated with TPA on both ears for 4 h, followed by MCE (100, 300, or 500 μg/ear) or indomethacin (Indo; 500 μg/ear) administration on the right ear, while the left ear was unmedicated. In TPA control, TPA was applied to only the right ear; in normal control, an equal amount of vehicle was applied to both ears. Ear thickness was measured before and at 4 h, 16 h, and 24 h after TPA treatment. Data represent the mean ± SD of each group ( ) and were statistically analyzed by one-way ANOVA. (a) The comparison of the thickness of the right ear at different time points. against “TPA 4 h” of the same group; versus the same time point in the group of TPA control. (b) The comparison of the thickness of the right ear and the left ear at 24 h after TPA treatment. against the left ear of the same group.
