Butein Inhibits Angiogenesis of Human Endothelial Progenitor Cells via the Translation Dependent Signaling Pathway

Figure 1

Effect of butein on cell proliferation and cytotoxicity of EPCs. Cells were seeded into a 96-well plate at 5000 cells per well overnight for attachment. After 72 h incubation with the indicated concentrations of butein in MV2 complete medium containing 10% FBS, cell morphology was detected by inverted phase contrast microscope (a), and cell proliferation was determined using crystal violet assay (b). Serum-starved cells were stimulated with or without VEGF (20 ng/mL) in the absence or presence of various concentrations of butein, and the cell growth and cytotoxicity were determined using MTT assay and LDH assay, respectively (c and d). Data are expressed as mean SEM of five independent experiments. ,  and compared with the control group.
