Fenugreek Prevents the Development of STZ-Induced Diabetic Nephropathy in a Rat Model of Diabetes

Alleviated glomerular morphological changes in the diabetic kidney after fenugreek treatment. Except for the morphological changes observed in Figure 1, other changes such as segmental thickening of glomerular basement membranes, widely fused foot processes podocytes, and excessively deposited mesangial matrix were also found in DN group under electron microscope (×20 000) and disappeared after fenugreek treatment in DF group (a). Besides, glomerular volume of the diabetic kidney in DN group enlarged significantly compared with the Con group and then diminished after fenugreek treatment in DF group (b). versus Con; versus DN.
