Anticoagulant Activity of Polyphenolic-Polysaccharides Isolated from Melastoma malabathricum L.

Chemical compositions of active anticoagulant fractions of F1, F2, and F3 were purified through solid phase extraction (SPE) from Melastoma malabathricum Linn. leaf hot water extract. Carbohydrate content was measured by using phenol-sulphuric acid, while glucose was used as a standard. Phenolic acid was measured by using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, and gallic acid was used as a standard. Uronic acid was measured by carbazole assay, and glucuronic acid was used as a standard. Values are expressed as mean ± S.E.M. ( ).
