Alpha-Asarone Protects Endothelial Cells from Injury by Angiotensin II

Protection of α-asarone against Ang II-mediated impairment of the ACh- induced eNOS Ser1177 phosphorylation in EA.hy926 cells. Cells were stimulated either with ACh (10 μmol/L) only (a, Control), incubated with Ang II (0.1 μmol/L) for 24 h, followed by stimulation with ACh (a, Model), or pr-treated with α-asarone (10 μmol/L) for 1 h and then incubated with Ang II (0.1 μmol/L) for 24 h, followed by stimulation with ACh (a, α-asarone) for the indicated times. Cells were lysed and subjected to Western blot analysis of phosphorylated eNOS at Ser1177 or for total eNOS protein.
