[Retracted] Silymarin Accelerates Liver Regeneration after Partial Hepatectomy

Figure 3

Silymarin accelerates liver regeneration after partial hepatectomy in rats by a mechanism related to G2 phase in cell cycle. (a) Expression protein levels of G2 phase checkpoint protein, cyclin B, were increased in treatment Sm after 6, 24, and 72 hrs of partial hepatectomy (PHx). Quantification of densitometry analysis of protein expression levels. All data are presented as means SEM, , as compared with the corresponding sham group. as compared with the corresponding PHx. as compared with 6 hrs sham group. as compared with 6 hrs PHx group. as compared with 24 hrs PHx group. α-Tubulin was used as a load control for western blotting. (b) Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis of cyclin B mRNA expression that was increased in treatment Sm after 6, 24, and 72 h PHx. Quantification of densitometry analysis of mRNA expression levels. All data are presented as means SEM, , as compared with the corresponding sham group. as compared with the corresponding PHx. as compared with 6 hrs PHx group. as compared with 24 hrs PHx group. GAPDH was used as a load control for RT-PCR. (c) Representative cell cycle in sham and PHx at various times.
