Effect of P. umbellatum SDE on carrageenan-induced peritonitis, expressed as leukocyte count (cells/mL). Results were expressed as mean ± SEM ( animals/group); treatment: P. umbellatum SDE (200 mg/kg), vehicle (PBS, pH 7.0 + Tween 80 0.3%), or dexamethasone (5 mg/kg), one hour before intraperitoneal carrageenan (500 μg/250 μL) injection. Peritoneal fluid was collected 4 hours after carrageenan stimulus. ANOVA, Newman-Keuls Multiple Comparison Test, in comparison to negative control group (vehicle).
