BKFE induces antioxidant-related genes expression via Nrf2 signaling. (a) SV40 MES13 cells were pretreated with vehicle or 20 μg/ml BKFE for 1 h and then treated with 100 μM PA for 18 h. The protein levels of antioxidant-related genes were analyzed by western blotting. The relative expression of the proteins was normalized to that of β-actin and quantified using the ImageJ software (three independent experiments). (b) Cells were transfected with scrambled siRNA (siCon) or Nrf2 siRNA (siNrf2) for 11 h. After incubation, the cells were pretreated with vehicle or 20 μg/ml BKFE for 1 h, and then treated with 100 μM PA for 18 h. The protein levels of Nrf2, and antioxidant-related genes were measured by western blotting.
