Bioactives and Traditional Herbal Medicine for the Treatment of Cardiovascular/Cerebrovascular Diseases

Call for Papers

Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are the leading causes of deaths worldwide. Based on the current epidemiological data, it is estimated that, till 2020, coronary artery disease and cerebral hemorrhage are still the first and second causes of death of human being, even though the order of the death causes due to human diseases will be changed significantly. Despite various advances in the understanding of the diseases, pharmacological treatment by conventional medicine has not obtained satisfactory results. However, recent studies suggest that natural products and traditional herbal medicine are a potential candidate for the preventative treatment of the disorders.

Therefore, we invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that provide solid evidence to support the application of bioactives/traditional herbal medicine (THM) in prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. We are particularly interested in articles reporting randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled trials or revealing the action mechanisms of bioactives/THM by using cellular or animal models. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Experimental and clinical trials of THM on prophylactic and/or therapeutic treatments of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Recent applications of bioactives and THM in treatment of cerebral and coronary thrombosis by using animal models
  • Advances in revealing acting targets of bioactives and THM in treating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Advances in identifying active ingredients of nutritional and medicinal herbs against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Current and probable strategies of phytoconstituents and THM for combating cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Current status of experimental and clinical trials and systematic reviews, including research trend, achievements, and problems are also welcome
  • Ethnopharmacological studies of bioactives and THM used in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at according to the following timetable:
