Innovations, Developments, and Applications of Natural Products in Oral Care
Description
Technological innovations and the development of new products are what currently boost the competitiveness between enterprises, and thus move the global economy. Many studies evaluate the effects of natural products in dentistry however few reach the assessment of the clinical phase with controlled clinical trials, and commercialisation. Scientific and technical advances in dentistry increase tremendously and there are great investments to be made by research centers and universities in new materials, especially related to dental biofilm diseases.
Most of the randomised clinical trials focussing on dentistry outcomes are presently aim to look at the performance of restorative materials. These studies unfortunately can contain many biases. In the current phase of minimally invasive dentistry, studies on materials, and preventive alternatives are important to decrease procedures that generate aerosols.
The aim of this Special Issue is to collate original research articles about interventions that highlight the innovation and/or efficacy, and safety of dental materials composed with natural products. Moreover, submissions focussing on the derivatives of dental materials analysed in clinical trials are particularly encouraged. This Special Issue aims to demonstrate a high level of scientific evidence about natural product formulations related to dentistry. Review articles discussing the state of the art are also welcome.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Natural product formulations
- Clinical pharmacology and toxicology studies
- Safety therapy with natural products in dentistry
- Technological developments
- Outcomes in biofilm-related diseases
- Innovative dental formulations
- Bioactive materials
- Outcomes in stomatological diseases and surgery
- Microbiological data
- Studies with patented dental formulations with natural products
