Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury 2022

This issue is now closed for submissions.

Description

Clinically, reperfusion in ischemic tissue usually leads to morbidity and mortality in a wide range of pathological and surgical processes, including myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, acute kidney injury, trauma, organ transplantation, and cardiothoracic, vascular, and general surgery.

Mechanistically, ischemia-reperfusion injury is associated with an enhanced production of inflammatory mediators, emigration of leukocytes in postcapillary venules, vascular protein leakage, activation of innate and adaptive immune responses, and cell death programs. Unfortunately, current medical strategies do not thoroughly diagnose and prevent this disease. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) contains numerous bioactive ingredients, some of which show activity against inflammatory mediators, inappropriate immune responses, and cell death.

This Special Issue invites research clinicians and scientists to submit original articles as well as reviews providing a comprehensive overview and high-quality research of TCM in ischemia-reperfusion injury. The work can evaluate the efficacy and safety of TCM for any kind of ischemia-reperfusion injury. We are particularly interested in manuscripts that report the physiological effects as well as the underlying mechanisms of TCM for ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Systematic review and/or meta-analysis of the use of TCM for ischemia-reperfusion injury
  • Biological and pharmacological activity of TCM for ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • In vitro and in vivo study and toxicity evaluation of TCM for ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • Active component screening of traditional medicine in ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • Characterization of active ingredients in herbal plants that have prevention and therapy properties for ischemia-reperfusion injury
  • Quality control of effective Chinese herbs for ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • Clinical trials on TCM for pain management ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • Integrative applications of traditional medicine and modern medicine in ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • Omics of traditional medicine in ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
  • Challenges in the use of traditional medicine in ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention and therapy
