Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis in Chinese Medicine

Call for Papers

With rich experience accumulating for thousands of years, Chinese medicine (CM) is a treasure for human healthcare. It is a patient-oriented medical system that treats the subjects instead of the diseases. CM has a broad scope of modalities, including herbal, proprietary CM, acupuncture, moxibustion, and qigong. Selection of therapy is tailor-made on which pattern of disharmony can be identified.

However, some clinicians and scientists have queried about the scientific validity of CM due to the lack of scientific evidence. There is a great demand in the knowledge gap to explore the scientific and evidence-based knowledge of CM. Thus a special issue is needed to structurally deliver the knowledge to readers.

In recent years, both the World Health Organization and the Cochrane Database have documented that CM is effective in the treatment of a number of disorders, especially for chronic diseases. Nevertheless, we need to provide more efficacies and safety evidence to demonstrate its effectiveness in the modern era. With this aim, we invite investigators to contribute systematic review articles and meta-analysis that explore the therapy of CM in all aspects. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Materia medica
  • Herbal formula
  • Active ingredient extracted from herbal medicine
  • Acupuncture and/or moxibustion
  • Qigong
