Each lymphocyte expresses a specific antigen receptor during cell development. B lymphocyte antigen receptors and immunoglobulins (Ig) recognize soluble antigens, whereas T lymphocyte antigen receptors (TCRs) recognize antigenic peptides presented by antigen presenting cells (APCs).
