Immune Reactions in Behcet’s Disease

Call for Papers

Behcet’s disease (BD) is a clinically characteristic genetic disorder caused by vascular changes based on vasculitis and/or thrombosis in various organs. The genetic factor is suspected to be HLA-B51 located on the short arm of chromosome 6 and some other genes. Generally, the symptoms of BD patients start with recurrent oral aphthous ulcers since their young generation and develop to the systemic disorders involving mucocutaneous, ocular, and neural system, digestive organs, and so on. It is interesting to note that BD patients acquire hyperreactivity to oral streptococci and that various immunological reactions based on “innate immunity” and “adaptive immunity” can be seen in the lesions of the patients.

We invite investigators to contribute original research as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the pathogenesis of the disease and the correlation between the above immunological reactions and the genetic condition in BD patients. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Genetics and immunity to streptococci
  • Aphthous ulcers in the oral cavity and the systemic involvements
  • Vascular changes in various organs including intraocular inflammation
  • Heat shock protein (Hsp) 60 and immune reaction
  • Role of T cells in the immune reaction of the BD lesions
  • Immunological therapies

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author Guidelines, which are located at Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at according to the following timetable:
