Arrowheads indicate representative NF-κB-expressing nuclei in acinar cells. NF-κB-positive fibroblasts were rare (open arrow in (a)), the fibroblast nuclei being predominantly negative (arrows). The increase in NF-κB activation is more prominent in acinar-cell-rich pancreata ((a) and (b)) than in fibrotic pancreata ((c) and (d)). Control stainings were negative (e).
