Imaging in Gastroenterology

Call for Papers

Diagnosis in gastroenterology in present times is impossible without imaging. Several procedures including ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MRI), and nuclear medicine are included in the generic title as “imaging.” The procedures are in continuous improvement from the technological point of view, and new clinical and research applications arise daily. Obviously the use of imaging in gastroenterology becomes mandatory for practitioners. Moreover, assimilation of the different techniques is a must for residents who are asked to use different algorithms in order to select and make the best diagnosis. The domain is as vast as important!

The focus of this special issue will be imaging diagnosis in clinical practice. An issue presenting original research articles will be for sure successful. Manuscripts addressing all aspects of clinical practice are encouraged, including indications of imaging procedures in acute, chronic, and neoplastic diseases, safety and quality of procedures, technical developments, and particular situations in practice. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnostic utility of imaging (US, CT, MRI, PET CT, etc.) in gastroenterology practice
  • Role of imaging procedures for evaluation of efficient therapy in inflammatory and neoplastic diseases
  • Algorithms and cost-efficient imaging diagnosis in gastroenterology
  • Imagistic staging of neoplastic diseases
  • Digestive emergencies and imaging procedures
  • Invasive procedures under imaging guidance: Performances, which one to select and where
  • Training of gastroenterologists in imaging: How important is it?
  • Technological achievements in imaging and importance for practical gastroenterology
  • Contrast imaging procedures in gastroenterology and hepatology
