N Mineralization in Production Agriculture

Description

The N cycle in the soil-plant system is a dynamic process with complex physical, biological, and chemical interactions that determine the flow of N in soil. A fundamental component of the N cycle is the mineralization of organic N into inorganic forms of N. Understanding the N mineralization component of the N cycle is critical for managing soil N supplies for sustainable crop production. Knowledge and understanding of N mineralization as it interacts with changes in soil physical, biological, and chemical conditions are needed for better management of soil fertility.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing effort to understand N mineralization in agriculture. We are particularly interested in articles describing N mineralization with animal manures used as fertilizer source of N. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Soil conditions impacting rate of N mineralization from manures
  • Impact of residence time of N mineralization of manures
  • Soil conditions impacting rate of N mineralization from plant residues and cover crops
  • Potential of global change impacts on N mineralization of plant residues
  • Soil amendments impact on soil N mineralization

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ija/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
