Advanced Control of Hypersonic Flight Vehicles
Description
The design of flight control system for hypersonic flight vehicles (HFVs) is a challenging task due to the extreme level of couplings between the propulsion system and airframe dynamics, the variations of vehicle characteristics with varying flight conditions, and serious system uncertainties. Peculiar vehicle structure and large flight envelope cause multiple constraints on HFVs. Moreover, HFVs usually fly at hypersonic speed.
Thus, the performance metrics of control system’s output behaviour (i.e., over-shoot, convergence rate and maximum steady-state error) must be satisfactory. Besides, good real-time performance also is necessary for HFVs. Thus, the control structure must be simple and computational load must be low.
The aim of this Special Issue is to collate original research and review articles that investigate the developments of advanced control of HFVs.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Constrained control of HFVs
- Low complexity control of HFVs
- Prescribed performance control (funnel control) of HFVs
- Intelligent control of HFVs
- Fault-tolerant control of HFVs
- Optimal control of HFVs
- Dynamic inversion control of HFVs
