Small Antennas: Miniaturization Techniques and Applications

Description

With the rapid development of wireless communications, the techniques related to small antennas such as analysis and design, matching, optimization, and miniaturization have attracted much more attention for hand-held devices and other compact communication terminals. Owing to the advantages of low weight, low cost fabrication, low profile, and easy integration with hand-held terminations, the small antennas and related techniques are extensively studied in both industry and academic areas.

Small antennas have the broad applications through their small size, low profile, and simple structure. One of the objectives of this special issue is to present the trends of the small antenna techniques and discuss the novel analysis methods, design techniques, and applications in the communication field. Prestigious scholars are invited to present their new achievements in the small and miniaturized antenna techniques. This special issue will focus on the research and technical innovations in small antenna and related techniques. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Small antenna optimization using EM methods (FDTD, FEM, MoM, GA, etc.)
  • Novel antenna designs (especially for small printed antennas, metamaterial antennas, and optical antennas, etc.)
  • Modeling and simulation for nanoantennas
  • Reconfigurable antennas
  • Multiband antennas
  • Ultrawideband antennas
  • Microstrip antennas
  • Small array antennas
  • Circular polarized antennas
  • Fractal antennas
  • RFID antennas
  • Small antennas matching and non-Foster techniques
  • Equivalent circuits for small antennas
  • Small antenna measurement techniques
