Advanced MIMO Techniques in the Heterogeneous Networks

Description

As the spectral efficiency in a single link between the base station and user equipment approaches theoretical limits, the demand for mobile data requires the increasing of the node density to further improve cell capacity. Therefore, large numbers of low power nodes are overlaid in a macro cell, where the topology can be referred to as the heterogeneous network. Advanced MIMO and antenna techniques need be designed and analyzed under various scenarios in future heterogeneous networks.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles, which propose and analyze novel MIMO and antenna techniques for heterogeneous networks. We are particularly interested in MIMO channel modeling for heterogeneous networks, interference management, 3D beamforming, etc. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • MIMO channel modeling in various scenarios
  • Performance optimization at the cell edge between low power cell and macro cell
  • Advanced 3D beamforming techniques in LTE-A systems
  • The MIMO antenna deployment strategy in macro, pico and relay nodes
  • Performance evaluation and optimization of different MIMO schemes in the high speed train scenario
  • Self-organization network (SON) algorithm utilization in the heterogeneous network
  • Interference cancellation at the receiver and interference management for cochannel deployments
  • Novel antenna design and calibration schemes in heterogeneous networks
  • Performance evaluation for cross-polarized antenna deployment in small cells
