Progress in Microwave Imaging: From Theoretical Developments to Cutting-Edge Applications

Description

Microwave imaging is an important area of applied electromagnetics, from both a theoretical and technological point of view. Indeed, its significance has constantly increased in the last twenty years, also, thanks to the joint exploitation of effective inversion strategies and advanced computational methods and reliable devices. In particular, this synergy has made possible the successful progress from simulations to actual application in fields as different as medical diagnostics, structural assessment, and security.

This special issue is meant to provide an updated overview on the recent advances in this technology. Thus, the aim is to present new theoretical results and experimental validations of novel algorithms, as well as studies concerned with emerging applications in order to outline the state of the art in this field.

To this end, we cordially invite researchers to submit original papers addressing such topics.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Inverse electromagnetic scattering theory
  • Qualitative and quantitative inversion methods
  • Measurement and calibration techniques for microwave imaging
  • Antenna systems for microwave imaging applications
  • Medical microwave imaging
  • Subsurface and through-wall imaging
  • Nondestructive testing and structural assessment
