Image presentation in the experimental procedure. Subjects were shown the image of “+” for 5 seconds (①), text for 10 seconds (②), and finally a facial expression together with text (③). In procedure (③), EEG was recorded for each facial presentation over a total period of 1200 ms starting at 200 ms before a given stimulus (baseline) and ending at 1000 ms after stimulation.
