Partitioning and Exocytosis of Secretory Granules during Division of PC12 Cells

The F-actin cortex is maintained during division of PC12 cells. Actin-GFP was expressed in PC12 cells and dividing cells were imaged by confocal microscopy. Single focal planes through the middle of the cells are shown for different stages of cell division as indicated. Notably, through all phases of mitosis a pronounced peripheral, ribbon-like accumulation of actin-GFP was observed, indicating that the F-actin-rich cortex remained intact. Scale bar, 10 μm.
