Comparison of interpolation results. We perform interpolation on two meshes in different orientations: and . The interpolation result using deformation gradients (Def Grad) is distorted because there is an ambiguity for interpolation if the orientations of the triangles differ by more than 180 degrees. The result obtained using the rotation-invariant encoding (Rot Inv) does not suffer from this ambiguity.
