Render cost visualized: pixels representing the sky dome or light sources have a significant lower cost than other pixels. Cost is represented by greyscale values (brighter is higher cost), per 32 pixels (a full warp). Measured using a tracer implemented in NVidia’s CUDA [11] for two scenes: Aztec (a) and Sibenik Cathedral (b).
