Dentistry and Aesthetic: Role of Growth Factors, Platelets Concentrates, New Materials, and Tissue Engineering in Dental Surgery

Call for Papers

Modern dentistry aims to link quite different areas of the sciences, to obtain the best results in dental surgery. Nowadays, molecular biology and physiology should be carefully considered in our everyday dental practice, especially with periodontology, implantology, and oral surgery; dentists need to learn more about the most recent regenerative therapies. Aesthetics procedures often meet surgical procedures, where the use of peptides or GFs can improve both techniques.

The scientific literature widely reports clinical trials, as well as experimental procedures, involving techniques based on the use of growth factors, to improve and to speed the clinical outcomes; such factors could be related to specific or generic pathways during the healing process; the filling materials are also well debated in the dental journals, so the practitioners are requested to work with a good knowledge on such recent topics, in order to choose the right treatment in each case.

Since the new technologies are ever improving themselves, it is important to clarify the current state of the art on these new therapeutic options, to share the knowledge about these matters, and to ensure a good approach to our patients.

The aim of this special issue is to provide the last researches on the use of peptides, proteins, growth factors, platelets concentrates, scaffolds, biomaterials, and others for all the maneuvers included in the dental surgery. The scope is to give an update on the most recent techniques, as well as take a look on the retrospective researches reported by authors. We also accept brief review, particularly interesting case reports and new techniques reports. We encourage submissions reporting basic research, clinical studies, and review articles.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Growth factors in dentistry
  • Biomaterials in dentistry
  • Stem cells in dentistry
  • Surfaces functionalization
  • Hydrogels in dental and bone tissues
  • Aesthetics in dental procedures
  • Customized approach in oral surgery
  • Digital planning of implant surgery
  • Platelets concentrates in dentistry
  • Dental prosthesis and related new approaches
