The forelimbs of four crested newt species that illustrate differences in “bone-packaging” [30]. Bones are coloured in red, cartilage in blue, and the surrounding soft tissue is clear and semitransparent. The statistically lower ossification level and concomitant loose “bone packaging” characterise T. dobrogicus.
