Intraspecies polymorphism in male-biased (M), unbiased (U), and female-biased (F) genes of D. melanogaster (a–c) and D. ananassae (d–f). Shown are distributions of synonymous nucleotide diversity , nonsynonymous nucleotide diversity , and their ratio . The D. melanogaster data are from the African (Zimbabwe) population. There were no significant differences among male-, female-, and unbiased genes in either species by any measure (the Kruskal-Wallis test, in all cases).
