Intraspecies polymorphism in autosomal and X-linked genes of D. melanogaster. Shown are distributions of synonymous nucleotide diversity , nonsynonymous nucleotide diversity , and their ratio . The data are from the African (Zimbabwe) population. The only significant difference among expression classes was for (the Kruskal-Wallis test, ), where X-linked unbiased genes had significantly higher than X-linked female-biased genes (the Mann-Whitney test, ). Within expression classes, X-linked unbiased genes had significantly greater and than autosomal unbiased genes (the Mann-Whitney test, and , resp.).
