Schematic representation of the electrochemical label-free sensor for the analysis of glycan expression on cell surfaces. The sensor was fabricated by modifying a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with single-walled nanohorns (SWNHs), followed by the covalent attachment of the lectin to the SWNHs, and blocking by bovine serum albumin (BSA). The specific binding between the lectin and the cell membrane carbohydrate was detected by EIS as an increase in charge transfer resistance in the presence of the redox couple [Fe(CN)6]3−/4− [18].
