Electrocatalysis: Fundamental and Applications

Description

Electrocatalysis is conceived as an interphasing discipline that is able to give a complete description of the most interesting and useful aspects of Electrochemistry; the heterogeneous reactions affected by the electrode potential and the presence of adsorbed species.

The perspective of Electrocatalysis in the laboratory together with their theoretical implications is also interesting to gain more knowledge about the mechanisms of electrocatalytic reactions. This special issue also gathers the experimental techniques and industrial implications of the processes.

We invite authors to submit original research and review articles that seek to define fundamental theoretical and experimental aspects in Electrocatalysis. We are also interested in articles that explore industrial or technological aspects of main electrochemical processes (hydrogen production, oxygen electrochemistry, chlorine production and electroplating) updated from the electrochemical engineering point of view, specially considering the “heart” of the reactor; that is, the electrocatalyst. The basic principles of Electrocatalysis with relevancy to theoretical physics and theoretical chemistry, also considering solid-state physics directly applied to the field are also encouraged to be submitted in this issue by the authors. Interesting surface in situ techniques and online methodologies are important in Electrocatalysis, so novel results are also requested in this Issue. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Fundamental aspects of electrocatalysis
  • Quantum Electrocatalysis
  • Electrocatalysis at noble and nonnoble metals
  • Electrocatalysis in electrochemical engineering
  • Electrocatalysis in galvanoplasty, electroless, and electrodeposition
  • Materials design in electrocatalysis
  • Conventional and hybrid experimental techniques in electrocatalysis
  • Hydrogen and methanol fuel cells
  • PEM (polymer electrolyte) and SOE (solid oxide electrolysis)

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijelc/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
