The Promise of Agriculture Genomics

Description

With the increase of population, we are faced with an unprecedented challenge in the environment degradation and food crisis. Agricultural genomics is the research that has clear potential to translate genomics technology into agronomic advancement. With the combination of traditional and high-throughput sequencing platforms, there has been a tremendous increase in genomic resource available, including expressed sequence tags (ESTs), BAC end sequence, genetic sequence polymorphisms, gene expression profiling, whole-genome (re)sequencing, and genome-wide association study. Given the fact of genomics assisted plant breeding, agriculture genomics is aiming to enhance the crop yield, nutrition, and even treatment of their diseases.

We invite investigators to contribute original research as well as review articles that advance our understanding of plant biology or have demonstrative application to crop improvement.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Function, regulation, and evolution of plant chromosomes
  • Genotyping of national seed banks/germplasms
  • Genotyping and marker assisted breeding
  • Gene family and their function
  • Genome-wide association study and its utilization
  • Transcriptome analysis for plant breeding
  • Comparative genomics for plant breeding
