A Superposition Based Diffraction Technique to Study Site Effects in Earthquake Engineering

Representation of the V-shaped canyon through the superposition of finite wedges. Each wedge contributes with a discrete source of diffraction and two continuous sources of reflected rays represented by the free boundaries. Each point singularity introduces a boundary of discontinuity in the optical field. Full continuity is restored by the diffracted waves emanated by the tips.
