Geospatial Informatics

Call for Papers

Geospatial informatics includes the science and the technology that develop and use information science infrastructure to deal with the acquisition, storage, modeling, analysis, production, presentation, and dissemination of geospatial data sets. Technologies such as geographic information systems (GIS), global positioning system, satellite-based remote sensing, web-based GIS, and computer simulations are emerging tools for planning and decision-making across a wide range of disciplines.

This special issue aims to capture recent advances in geospatial informatics and their applications in geophysics in support of systematic modeling and analysis as well as effective decision-making and management practices. It will serve as a forum to bring together researchers and experts to share their recent and unpublished research articles (review articles are also welcome) on the opportunities, challenges, solutions, applications, and future development in geospatial technologies and informatics.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Geospatial data analysis and visualization
  • Spatial decision support systems
  • Remote sensing
  • Earth systems modeling and analysis
  • Land cover and land use changes
  • Web mapping and web-based GIS
  • Geospatial databases
  • Geophysical modeling and interpretation

Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at

Submission DeadlineFriday, 11 May 2018
Publication DateSeptember 2018

Papers are published upon acceptance, regardless of the Special Issue publication date.
