Proliferative response of PBMCs to mitogens in lean, overweight, and obese chimpanzees. PBMCs isolated from the blood samples of the chimpanzees were used for determining proliferative response in triplicate wells using the standard [3H] thymidine incorporation assay. The proliferation responses are expressed as delta (Δ) count per minuets (CPM). Δ value representing increase in radioactivity incorporated in presence of the mitogen over to that in medium control. The results shown are average of three distinct experiments and comparison between groups of chimpanzees was done by one-way analysis of variance with the Kruskal-Wallis test as described in Figure 1.
