Transcriptional Response of Selenopolypeptide Genes and Selenocysteine Biosynthesis Machinery Genes in Escherichia coli during Selenite Reduction

(b) Five machinery genes for SeCys biosynthesis and insertion: selA, selB, selD, ybbE, and sufS. (c) Three S metabolic genes: sbp, thiP, and iscS. (d) Four previously reported selenite-induced genes: gor, sodA, trxB, and gutS. The RNA samples were isolated from bacteria cells grown under 0, 0.01, or 5 mM Na2SeO3 for 0.5, 2, or 6 h. Data shown are fold changes calculated as transcript levels of selenite treated samples compared to untreated (defined as 1). Data represent an average of three biological replicates ± SD. Each replicate was assayed in triplicate.
