The points of Gateaux and Fr&#233;chet differentiability in <mml:math alttext="$L_\infty  \left( {\mu ,X} \right)$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msub><mml:mi>L</mml:mi><mml:mi>&#8734;</mml:mi></mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>&#956;</mml:mi><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>X</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> are obtained, where <mml:math alttext="$\left( {\Omega ,\sum ,\mu } \right)$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>&#937;</mml:mi><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mo>&#8721;</mml:mo><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>&#956;</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> is a finite measure space and <mml:math alttext="$X$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>X</mml:mi></mml:math> is a real Banach space. An application of these results is given to the space <mml:math alttext="$B\left( {L_1 \left( {\mu ,\mathbb{R}} \right),X} \right)$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>B</mml:mi><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mi>L</mml:mi><mml:mn>1</mml:mn></mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>&#956;</mml:mi><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>&#8477;</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>X</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> of all bounded linear operators from <mml:math alttext="$L_1 \left( {\mu ,\mathbb{R}} \right)$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msub><mml:mi>L</mml:mi><mml:mn>1</mml:mn></mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mo>(</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>&#956;</mml:mi><mml:mo>,</mml:mo><mml:mi>&#8477;</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>)</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:math> into <mml:math alttext="$X$" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mi>X</mml:mi></mml:math>.
