A partial differential equation with the argument <mml:math alttext="$\left[ {\lambda t} \right]$" id="E1" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>[</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>λ</mml:mi><mml:mi>t</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>]</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:math> is studied, where <mml:math alttext="$\left[  \bullet  \right]$" id="E2" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>[</mml:mo><mml:mo>•</mml:mo><mml:mo>]</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:math> denotes the greatest integer function. The infinite delay <mml:math alttext="$t - \left[ {\lambda t} \right]$" id="E3" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:mrow><mml:mi>t</mml:mi><mml:mo>−</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mo>[</mml:mo><mml:mrow><mml:mi>λ</mml:mi><mml:mi>t</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mo>]</mml:mo></mml:mrow></mml:mrow></mml:math> leads to difference equations of unbounded order.
